Transpose MR, 3D animation, 2009
Transpose MR is a 3D animation that peers into the space of medical imaging in order to raise questions regarding the machines that image the human body and our sense of their place. Machines, such as the MRI, strip flesh from view; opening the human carapace in the hunt for disease and injury. The space it inhabits is sterile, white, beige, that strange and sickly blueish green. The color of scrubs. The lumbering beast sleeps in the clinic, waiting, dreaming of the veldt. It lazes in the sun, comfortable as a hunting cat. Its transposition obfuscates our sense of its place.
