apeiron | peras III
, video, 2008

“Apeiron | Peras” is a series of non-representational, non-narrative improvised audio/video films and performances created using custom hand-made electronics arranged in generative feedback loops resulting in an intense display of electronic synethesia - sound and image are the result of sonifying and visualizing the same raw electronic signals as directly as possible.  The resulting dance of drones and vibrant visuals is chaotic and unpredictable, yielding moments of tranquility amidst complete sensory assault.   The concept follows in the tradition of early video art pioneers seeking to explore and expand the possibilities of electronic visual media in a way that is both expressive and in accordance with the natural way of the technological objects used.   In these works, the artist approaches the physical objects of electronic media on their own terms and navigates the expressive terrain within the circuits, communicating in a language that is a machine-human hybrid, while simultaneously closing the gap between what is seen and what is heard.
